A hand reaches to the back of the room, has this feeling been there long?

The gutter's full of leaves and snow, nurtured by the summer wind,
February left us years ago, it'll return when the world ends,
Feeling pain when you go to sleep, when did that show up I can't recall?
Tossing, turning, nerve against bone, a short spring and a long fall.

If a harpoon lodges in my back, piercing my tender core,
